First test of "Downtown"
First test of the level layout for my entry, "Downtown". It's set inside a giant sphere, which I think will make for some cool vertical action as enemies on the other side of the level will be "above" you. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the levels procedural with a maze made of cylinders, or move to pre-designed arenas that would have a lot more tactical and cover options, but be more work to make. Anyone wanna make some arenas? :) I need to fix a gimble-locking issue with movement, and then I think I'll add some AI enemies. I hope I have time to add multiplayer, but I'm feeling really sick so I don't know how much I can get done by the deadline! :P

Wow, nice and trippy looking at the same time. I'm kinda anxious to see how it'll play when enemies are added, considering that if they're on the other side of the map then...well...you're safe nowhere... Designed maps would probably benefit your game more, but they would take a lot longer to make, I actually didn't know that it was procedurally generated so...nice job on that I guess. I would make a map, but I'm also working on an entry and I'm rusty at Blender so...yeah... So what issues are you having with movement anyway? Everything looked fine to me, judging from the video.

No wonder you are feeling I'll, thats trippy as heck! Really good job, maybe if you stick with procedural generation, introduce a hollow shape function the produce caves / shelters. Good job.

thanks, guys! The lock occurs as you get closer to the top of the sphere; I suspect it has something to do with how I'm handling gravity, so I'm gonna try a different approach.

This looks awesome!
Very cool, and yeah, I second the idea of having some shelter!

ugh, this locking problem is driving me nuts; I suspect it has to do with how transform.up is set by Unity, and it freaks out when up is the opposite of World.up (although it has a weird sort of "black hole effect" that drags it in the closer it gets to -World.up)...
