This is a quick note that I'm looking forward to participating in 7DFPS this year. I'll be using my usual Unity setup with Blender for 3D assets and a handful of other things for 2D work.
I'm not a huge FPS player (I loath competition in the games I play and avoid it like the plague), and the ones I've enjoyed focus more on exploration and immersion than action. I love games like Far Cry 2 and Borderlands, but I'm far more likely to spend hours with a game like Skyrim than I am Call of Duty. Games designed for exploration are time-consuming and expensive to make though, especially for a gamejam like this. I'll be playing with procedural generation a lot, and I'm hoping to apply it to other aspects of the game beyond world-building. I'll also take a look at other genres I love to see what I can apply to a first-person space.
Anyways, I've got a few ideas to work with and I'm hoping to experiment and settle on one of them before the start of jam. I'm also planning on going back to play a bunch of last year's entries to get an idea of what people came up with.
